My niece Elizabeth wrote me that:
Just to throw in my recollection, I thought the tale was told that Aunt Rose
had changed the spelling from O to A when she was in grade school.
Her brother, my nephew David, responded to her with a copy to me:
That's definitely my recollection as well. I even think that
somewhere Dad has the paperwork to show that when David Kalodner
emigrated, the name was spelled "Kolodner" not "Kalodner."
I will discuss this with their father, my brother Philip, when time permits.
This "tale" is not one with which I am familiar. In the meantime, I am unable to verify the authenticity of this story about why our family spells the name "Kalodner."
Dear David,
Although my ex-brother-in-law (Howard I. Kalodner, "Professor") doesn't remember, the story about the change from "o" to "a" is vivid memory of mine. It was Rose Kalodner, the eldest child of David Kalodner-and the sister of Harry E. Kalodner, who misspelled. I think you mixed up the relationship.
